Cinnamon Toast Hearts

This is a variation on a traditional cinnamon toast my mom used to make for us growing up… sometimes as a bedtime snack or a family night treat. I think this would make a delicious part of a mother’s day breakfast made by the kids, showing their love by helping make mom breakfast- instead of the other way around!

Cinnamon Toast Hearts

Ingredients

  • 2 or more slices of your favorite bread
  • 1/4 cup softened, spreadable butter
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

ADULT PREP

  1. Measure out cinnamon and sugar.

  2. Soften butter.

TODDLER TASKS

  1. Use a heart shaped cookie cutter to make heart shapes from the bread.

  2. Spread butter over the hearts using a plastic knife.

  3. Place hearts into an oven safe dish.

  4. Mix cinnamon and sugar. Sprinkle on top of the buttery hearts.

ADULT TASKS

  1. Place pan into the oven on broil for about 5 minutes or until bubbly and toast just starts to brown. Watch them carefully!

  2. Let cool slightly, then enjoy!
